Help on Feng Shui for an “oasis of calm” room?(:?
I am making a spare bedroom into an “oasis of calm room”. I want it to have a calming feel when you walk in, a place for me to just relax. I don’t want to paint it, because I love the tan colour. But I need some creative ideas on how to put the 5 elements(wood, fire, earth, metal, and water) in the room. I have extra time at home, so i want to make most of it, out of natural(AND CLEAN!) stuff of course. I was thinking of getting little like 15 cent fish to put in the water(hopefully i could make a little waterfall or something?) into the room. Btw, it does not have a fire place/: but fake fire ideas are fine(like a flickering candle light bulb thing). Thanks guys!
Heres the layout:

if you are talking about the real fengshui, or at least what the chinese practice, then you should know that you cannot adjust a room to have good fengshui, but it is more the other way around, you build a house based on fengshui for it to have good fengshui. this means that using some fengshui methods, you determine which area in your house has the energy that you are looking for or best suitable for your kind of room. then you build your room in this specific area. this is the reason why most find fengshui hopeless and difficult to get around. and another reason why architects and designers loathe the idea of fengshui.
if you build a room in an area where there is good fengshui, then you live that energy and make it happen in your life. the more you use that room, the more that energy will manifest in your life. this is how fengshui manipulates and affects your life.
if you use any room, it will contain a specific energy, and no matter what things you put in this room or what color you paint it, the energy will manifest or happen in your life whenever you use this room. there is no way to change the nature of energy of that room.
fegnshui practitioners use many fengshui methods to determine the nature or characteristics of the energy of a particular area of your house. and the energy distribution can be shifted or manipulated by just tilted or repositioning your door – this has the biggest impact or the most powerful in fengshui.
there are more minor fengshui methods that can influence your life for a similar effect, but it will not be as effective or powerful.
the elements are not the physical elements. but they describe the energy that is present in an area. you’d know this when you understand flying star method. the energies in a house has its own distribution based on the facing degree (0to360) of your main door, where the chi or energy enters the house, and when you first use or moved into the house (this is kinda activation of the house/ energy). when different energy combine, they react and interact forming new energy form, which can affect your life greatly.
so, forget about using paints or colors, because using them never works.
using water is another thing. water is a powerful element, that it can activate both good energy and bad energy. there are 2 kinds of water in fengshui:
- still water and
- moving water, which is most used. this can mean a fish tank with fish, or just a fish tank with an aerator that keeps the water moving. as long as the water moves, then it is a moving water – fish is not necessary.
the bad thing about water is that it can activate bad energy. so it can be dangerous if you unknowingly put water in an area which you do not know what energy it has. if the area has many fire element (again, not the physical fire), then putting a moving water in that area can cause fire from many reasons like faulty wires or some accidents.
this is what real fengshui is all about.
