Feng Shui Confusion – Bagua direction versus Compass direction?
I am confused about determining directions in a house. Some feng shui practitioners say that the house facing direction is based on a compass reading — but if this is the case, then why align a bagua map with the front door of a house regardless of its direction, since the sector 1 of the bagua represents north?
For example, if a house’s facing direction were determined to be Southwest and the front door was also facing Southwest, one would align the bagua map with the front door. The “North” sector of the home would then be where the front door was located, even though that door is technically facing Southwest, correct? So when a feng shui practitioner says that a kitchen should ideally be located in the Northwest sector of the home, are they talking about compass NW or bagua NW???
O.K. Bob, thanks for the answer but again, when you say that a kitchen in the NW corner is a big no-no, do you mean bagua NW or compass NW??
first, am very sorry, but the bagua method is not a fengshui method. i know that there are many so called fengshui practitioners out there who claim it to be, but in my years of attending seminars under master yap cheng hai/ joey yap and master peter leung, i really have not seen either one of these fengshui masters teach this method. and these have been in the fengshui business for more than 10 years!
to prove that the bagua method is not a fengshui method:
- where do you put the toilet/ bathroom, because any sector you place it, it affects that aspect of your life. this i do think is just silly. well, in fact there is a good place for bathrooms, based on the fengshui method you are using like flying stars, 8 mansions, etc.
- the kitchen at the northwest is a big no no in fengshui, this configuration is actually termed as fire in heaven. fire being your kitchen, and the northwest is heaven based on the bagua (not the method, but early heaven and later heaven, not to be confused).
forget about the bagua map… because there is just no such thing!!! this is what i am trying to tell you!!! i dont know why you keep on asking about the bagua map, that is not a fengshui method!
use a compass, go to the center of your house (different for a condo or a apartment), then locate the northwest – the northwest most part of the house. it is very simple, i dont know why you cannot get it.
