feng shui 2008?
Hi so I read this article in redbook talking about what to do for the new year to have good energy in your house. One was to move around 27 items which I did, another was too open all doors and windows for a second at midnight to let all the past years bad energies out which I did
Now it also said never to clean on new years day bec it pushes out all the good new spirits that came in last night. I just got home from a trip on sun and still have not unpacked my clothes are all over my bedroom floor, and I have a lot of dishes in my kitchen from people I had over last night. Do you think the article means you can not clean a single thing……..or just not to really “clean clean” I just want to pick up a little
First off, the Chinese use a different calendar then westerners. When you read an article on Chinese customs for the new year, you need to keep in mind the Chinese New Year has not started yet. In fact, this year the Chinese New Year is on Feburary 7th. Therefore, you can clean and straighten as much as you want. You have over a month left!!!
In the Chinese tradition, it is advised to clean the entire house before the start of the New Year. This is to get rid of negative energy from the previous year and start the New Year with a clean slate. It is recommended to clean the house on the 28th day of the 12th Lunar Month, which in the western calendar is Feb 4th of this year.
After the 28th day of the 12th Lunar Month, Feb 4, 2008, all cleaning should have already been done. This is because the energy of the New Year will already start arriving. To avoid getting rid of the new energy for the New Year, one should avoid sweeping or dusting. By sweeping or mopping the floor and dusting, you are “sweeping” aways all the good energy of the New Year.
However, this does not mean you can not clean. You can most surely wash your dishes, wipe up messes, straighten your house, etc. Just avoid sweeping or dusting. If you must sweep, then sweep inwards and not outwards. This way you are not sweeping the energy out.
These are Chinese customs and traditions. It is not Feng Shui, do not confuse the two. Feng Shui is about the chi in your environment. Location of certain Chi changes annually. For example, this year the Wealth chi is in the East. If you want to activate for wealth, place Eight Citrine Crystals or White Stones in the Eastern sector of your home. For health, place a Metalic item in the Northwest. Avoid digging, hammering, or moving earth in the South or North this year.
Happy New Year and Good Luck. Now you can clean your space.
