Why are there white bumps/bugs on the new growth of my lucky bamboo?
I bought this single stalk at ikea about a year and a half ago and on the new growth (5 inches long) at the base of the growth there are white/tan bumps (bugs?) that dont move. They are preatty close together (1/8 of an inch apart). What are these??
Without a picture, I’ll just guess they are mealy bugs. They suck the sap from the plant and are bad. You can spray them off with water, or try a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol and dabbed on each one. That will kill the adults but not the eggs, so you have to do it again until you don’t see any more. Or it could be another pest called “scale”, which is also hard to eliminate. Try picking them off or buy a can of houseplant insecticide.
